Susan Bell is a member of AMSRS (http://www.amsrs.com.au) and is therefore bound by the professional code of conduct which also protects respondent privacy.

  • Susan Bell Research usually records individual interviews and focus groups (audio and/or video). We protect the identity of the people on these recordings by storing all contact information separately from the recording. We keep all these materials in locked cabinets.
  • We may give subcontracted agencies copies of these recordings for analysis and/or transcription. These subcontractors then return this material to us when they have finished their task. These subcontractors must comply with the M&SRPP’s and must sign a confidentiality agreement with us.
  • Our clients sometimes give us customer lists so that we can contact people to take part in research. We store these securely in an encrypted database and / or locked cabinet. We sometimes pass these lists on to specialist agencies who work for us as subcontractors. These agencies have signed the agreements described above. When we have finished the project, we delete these lists. Our subcontractors do the same.
  • On those occasions when identifying information about the respondent appears on our paperwork, it is deleted as soon as is practical. Respondents have the right to request access to, and/or correction and/or deletion of any identified information about them held by our company. (An individual however does not have access to group discussion tapes, video and DVDs as that would breach other people’s privacy).
  • We store information which could identify respondents separately from the findings of the research. We never report on or publish information which would enable a person to be identified, unless we have that person’s written permission to do so.
